Research Experience and Interests
Mr. Flanery has spent much of his 22 years at ORNL working in the field of scientific visualization. Ray has experience with immersive visualization systems (including the CAVE and ImmersaDesk® VR systems), cluster computing, powerwall visualization and web-based GIS visualization. His GIS projects have involved finding innovative ways to present large scale GIS data on systems such as the Everest powerwall at ORNL. He is also involved in GIS based reusable software development with other members of the GIST group as well as the design and implementation of a virtual infrastructure for the group’s servers, data storage and networking.
