Research Experience and Interests
Dr. Cheriyadat joined the Geographic Information Science and Technology group at ORNL in 2004 as a research associate. His current responsibilities include: developing advanced image and video analysis techniques, pattern recognition algorithms and spatiotemporal image mining tools for interpreting and understanding large volumes of images and videos taken from multitude of platforms including air and space borne sensors.
Prior to joining the GIST group, Dr. Cheriyadat worked at Geosystems Research Institute, Mississippi State University as a research associate focusing his efforts on pattern recognition research for remotely sensed images. During the initial four years of his career he spend time in Indian software industry and his experience includes developing program specification, coding and testing.
Dr. Cheriyadatâs areas of expertise include computer vision, machine learning and image processing and hyperspectral classification. Dr. Cheriyadat has published his research findings in top conferences and peer reviewed journals.
