Research Experience and Interests

Jason is an Electrical Engineer specializing in power systems.  Research interests include Wide-Area Measurement Systems (WAMS) for power systems, dynamic response of power networks and robust statistical analysis of power system data.  Developed applications at ORNL focus on integration of high resolution power system phasor measurement data into the VERDE situational awareness tool.

Doctoral work includes implementation of a nation wide WAMS network for the US power grid.  Developed applications for measurement data include identification of system disturbances, estimation of disturbance location, and system transient analysis.  Additional research topics include the nature of power system dynamic response, travelling electromechanical waves and data driven system order reduction techniques.
