News

Nina Balke of ORNL’s Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences recently received a highly competitive  Early Career Award (ECA),  from DOE’s Office of Science.  The award includes funding of at least $500,000 per year for five years.

ORNL Researchers Sergei Kalinin and De-en Jiang were named 2010 recipients of the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE). 

Yury Gogotsi of Drexel University received the 2011 NANOSMAT Prize for career achievements in  nanoscience and nanotechnology.  In 2010 he received Drexel’s Distinguished Professor Award, the university’s highest honor.

FIRST Center Thrust 1 Leader, Peter T. Cummings of Vanderbilt University received the 2010 Founders Award of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AiChE)

FIRST Center Deputy Director and Thrust 2 Leader Sheng Dai was named ORNL’s Scientist of the Year for 2010.
