Codes & Standards for ITER Procurements

Monday Evening, 7:00 - 9:00 PM
Salon C
September 26, 2005

The fusion community is now preparing for ITER equipment procurements. What codes and standards will be invoked, given ITER's nuclear and safety considerations and its international character? There seem to be some clear answers but also some uncertainty. With the site decision behind us, one major uncertainty is eliminated and it should now be possible to make more rapid progress.

Goal of the forum: A better understanding of what codes and standards will be used for ITER procurements and recognition of areas in need of further clarification.

Agenda:

7:00 p.m. Introduction - Hutch Neilson (5 mins.)
7:05 p.m. ITER Perspective - P. Barabaschi (25 mins.)
7:30 p.m. Safety Perspectiv - D. Petti (25 mins.)
7:50 p.m. Codes & Standards for Electrical Systems - C. Neumeyer (20 mins.)
8:10 p.m. Codes & Standards for Magnets - P. Titus (20 mins.)
8:30 p.m. Mechanical Systems, D. Petti - I. Zatz(20 mins.)

The times are meant to include discussion. Speakers should allow plenty of time for questions and be prepared to skip some material if necessary to keep the meeting on schedule.
