Self-Organized Criticality

We explore general properties of systems governed by Self--Organized Criticality that have an impact on the model applications that we are studying.

These are properties such as the interaction of avalanche transport with other transport mechanisms or the role of inhomogeneities in the system. In these studies, we use simple models such as sandpile or forest fire models.

Mixed SOC--diffusive dynamics.

Effect of inhomogeneities in SOC systems.

Waiting times distributions.
