There are three contractual vehicles used to enable us to work with you (what ORNL calls Work for Others or WFO):
Very simple, for work where no intellectual property will be generated |
Fixed terms and conditions, pre-approved to expedite getting work done |
Uses Proprietary Information Agreement to allow us to receive your confidential information (protects both of us) |
Used when intellectual property will be generated |
Terms and conditions negotiable |
Can be set up as umbrella agreement with specific tasks added to meet customer needs (by-the-drink funding). No cost to set up. |
A CRADA between ORNL and its partners from private industry or academia allows for effective, equitable sharing of benefits and resources. CRADAs allow contributors to collaborate on ideas, share costs, and pool their R&D results to bring a specific technology to the marketplace. |
Each partner contributes to the research project. ORNL can provide personnel, facilities, equipment, or other nonmonetary resources;and nonfederal participants may provide funds, personnel, equipment, or other resources to conduct R&D that is consistent with DOE's mission. |
