Magnetics and Superconductivity Group

The mission of the magnetics and superconductivity group is to develop superconducting technologies that can be used in the high efficiency production and use of energy, low temperature (cryogenic) cooling of superconducting systems, and the development of supporting technologies. A major part of the current work is in the development of high temperature superconducting (HTS) power applications .

We also are conducting research and development to support the application of superconducting magnets for a NASA plasma propulsion system.

The group has many areas of expertise, flexible test facilities and a broad range of test equipment.
