Timothy J. McIntyre is a Research Physicist in the Engineering Science and Technology Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory where he specializes in electro-mechanical system design and development. Tim holds three patents in the areas of advanced mechanical actuators and ultra-precision measurement techniques for determining displacement and rotation with sub-atomic accuracy. He has been a member of the research staff at ORNL for over twelve years. During this period, Tim's research efforts have resulted in a number of significant event awards, and R&D 100 Award and numerous publications from successfully delivering new technology to the customer. Other areas of expertise include: advanced sensors and signal processing electronics, laser measurement systems, mechanical modeling and analysis, and wireless telemetry.
