Chuck Britton is a member of the Monolithic Systems Development Group at ORNL and is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He worked for Hewlett-Packard Co., E.G. & G., and North American Philips prior to coming to ORNL. He is presently involved as the project manager for the ORNL electronics effort in the design of fast, low-power mixed-signal electronics for particle physics experiments (PHENIX ). He is also presently involved in wireless electronics development, electronics for harsh environments, and micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) at ORNL. He has over 60 publications and eight patents in the field of electronics and integrated circuit design. He was awarded a 1994 Martin Marietta Technical Achievement Award for his work in radiation-hardened analog memories, a 1998 Lockheed Martin Technical Achievement Award for research on a microcantilever-based mercury detector, a 1998 Lockheed Martin Technical Achievement Award for research on deadtime-less chipset for collider physics experiments, and a 1999 Lockheed Martin Technical Achievement Award for research on the Wireless Electronic Nose. .

He was Conference Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science from 1998-2000. He is actively involved with the IEEE as as an elected member of the Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society (NPSS) AdCom, as assistant program chairman of the IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium (NSS) and as organizer and teacher of short courses at the NSS. He has been a member of the Technical Program Committee of the IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS).
