This annex is a
project of the International Energy Agency's
Annex 26 Advanced Supermarket Refrigeration/Heat Recovery Systems Introduction This Annex will investigate candidate advanced system design approaches to determine their potential to reduce refrigerant usage and energy consumption for both refrigeration and heating/air conditioning in supermarkets. Advanced supermarket refrigeration system concepts to be considered include, but not limited to the following:
Start date: 1 April
1999 Objectives The objective of this Annex is to demonstrate and document the benefits of advanced systems design for food refrigeration and space heating and cooling for retail foodstores (supermarkets). A specific goal is to identify advanced system design options to reduce the total equivalent warming impact (TEWI) of supermarkets. Operating Agent and Participating Countries The designated Operating Agent is the US Department of Energy, acting through Oak Ridge National Laboratory on behalf of the USA. Participating Countries: Canada, Denmark, Sweden, U.K. and USA. Activities The following describes
some of the task-sharing activities to be carried out under this Annex: Products The Annex will yield comparative analyses and field tests or case studies documenting the performance of advanced and cost efficient supermarket refrigeration/ heat recovery options and their potential energy savings and TEWI reductions. A final report will be published documenting the findings of these analyses and field tests or case studies, and proceedings of the workshops will be published.
