Job Opportunities

From time-to-time the ISML Group will post job openings for new staff members, post graduate positions (post graduate, post masters, and post doctoral), and summer faculty and students. The availability of positions in the group is dependent on the availability of sponsor funding and can range from a 10 week summer assignment, to 1-3 years for post graduate openings, or long term careers for new staff.

Current Openings

Postdoctoral Research Associate, Imaging and Computer Vision

Posting End Date : 05/12/2013

Purpose:

The Imaging, Signals, and Machine Learning (ISML) group in the Measurement Science and Systems Engineering (MSSE)
Division is seeking a Post-Doctoral researcher for working in computer vision. Example projects include Face Age
Estimation, Standoff Biometric Recognition, Eye Tracking, Iris Recognition, gamma/neutron imaging, and other computer vision projects. Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is the nation's largest open science laboratory and the ISML group has a strong history in the computer vision field. More than one opening may be available.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will work with a team that includes computer vision, biometrics, and optics experts along with end user. The successful candidate must have strong coding skills and experience in the computer vision or pattern recognition fields. Experience with the following areas is considered a plus:


- C++ Programming
- OpenCV
- Computer Vision
- Software Engineering
- Eye Tracking
- Face Age Estimation
- Iris Biometrics
- Graphical User Interfaces
- Biology

Qualifications Required:

This position requires a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. The position is structured as a one year appointment with the possibility of an extension up to two years. Ability to obtain a security clearance is strongly preferred.

Applicants cannot have received the most recent degree more than five years prior to the date of application and must complete all degree requirements before starting their appointment.

This position is a temporary, full-time assignment for 24 months, contingent on successful performance and continued funding.
