Signal Processing
The Group maintains a significant signal processing capability, which serves as the basis for our work in the area of condition-based maintenance. Group members have extensive expertise in acquiring and analyzing sensor data for characterizing systems and processes, using a wide variety of time-, frequency-, and wavelet-based analysis techniques. In certain applications, nonlinear time series analysis techniques have also been used.
Our signal processing capabilities have contributed towards the development of several methods and systems for unexploded ordinance detection, speaker recognition, signal encryption, and the Enclosed Space Detection System, a commercialized system used by law enforcement officials to detect suspects hiding in enclosed spaces such as car trunks and shipping containers.
