Mechanical System Design and Fabrication Support
Our Group’s mechanical system design and fabrication support capabilities are unique among groups in ORNL's Measurement Science and Systems Engineering Division. Our experienced mechanical designers are skilled at designing hardware to meet requirements, while minimizing fabrication difficulty. Shop drawings are routinely prepared using Autocad or ProEngineer drafting packages.
In addition to performing the mechanical design, Group members assist ORNL and other local fabrication shop personnel with scheduling, and stand ready to provide assistence if design and fabrication issues arise. Our good working relationship with these shops ensures that parts are fabricated on schedule, with minimal rework, and in full compliance with the design drawings.
