Professional Experience
R&D Engineer, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge, TN (1985-Present)
Principal investigator for research and development programs in equipment health monitoring and diagnostics, instrumentation development, and classified applications. Established and managed a laboratory for diagnostics R&D. Technical accomplishments were instrumental in attracting numerous major programs with government and private-sector sponsors.
- Invented and pioneered the development of Electrical Signature Analysis (ESA). ESA is now widely recognized as a powerful and versatile technology for condition monitoring and diagnostics.
- Led the development of several computer-based data acquisition and analysis systems. Sponsors include: U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and several industries.
- Provided leadership and technical expertise in the creation of new signature analysis methods and software developments for classified applications.
Test Engineer, Oak Ridge Gaseous Diffusion Plant, Oak Ridge, TN (1979-1985)
Designed and managed the construction of model-scale flow system components, including piping, valves, and compressor housings. Directed aerodynamic tests of these models and full-scale equipment, provided data quality control and analysis, and prepared test reports.
