DOE's BestPractices Pumping System Assessment Basics E-Learning

Archived Webinar

FEMP’s Industrial Facilities Initiative provided a training webinar on the DOE’s BestPractices Pumping Systems Assessment Basics on June 9, 2010.

The course highlighted pumping system assessment fundamentals and provided guidance for identifying system-level opportunities for saving energy in pumping systems.

A ‘live action’ demonstration of the DOE BestPractices software Pumping System Assessment Tool (PSAT) was conducted to enable participants to analyze different operating scenarios using actual field data to compare energy and cost savings to help optimize their pumping systems.  Examples were demonstrated to show how a pump could be performing well within a system while the overall system was performing poorly.

The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Simplified Greenhouse Gas Emissions Calculator was also demonstrated to include emission reductions as part of the total benefits for a more energy efficient pumping system.
