"Analytical models" and "design tools" are mostly nebular terms that are best understood as merely "computer programs." The operation
of each component in a heat pump; the compressor, fan and blower motors, heat exchangers, expansion devices, pressure drops can all be
characterized by algorithms that reflect the underlying physical processes going on in the machine or through empirical correlations
developed from carefully constructed and analyzed laboratory measurements. Computer programs have been developed that use
these algorithms and/or correlations to provide tools for estimating either total system performance or performance of a single
component (e.g. condenser or evaporator). The reports that document these computational tools are listed here.
