Ji-Won received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in geology from Yonsei University, Seoul, Republic of Korea, in 1992 and 1995, respectively, and his Ph.D. degree in Earth System Sciences from Yonsei University in 2003. Prior to becoming a Research and Development Staff member of Biosciences Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in 2009, he was a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Environmental Sciences Division and Biosciences Division at ORNL. His primary research interests focus on microbial synthesis of nano-dimensioned materials. Examples include magnetic, photovoltaic, semiconducting, and phosphor materials.
