Mass Spectrometry Projects

Our mass spectrometry projects span many facets of this field and are supported by a variety of sponsors, but mostly center on instrumental innovations. We are developing micrometer-scale ion trap mass spectrometers for high-pressure applications and sensing. A particular emphasis is placed on mass spectrometry of particles for quantitative determinations and for isotopic analysis of individual particles to circumvent ensemble averaging. In addition, analysis of gas phase molecules that are employed as airborne tracers is underway.
