There are several instruments for surface and interface analysis available in our laboratories:

• Thermo Scientific K-Alpha X-Ray Photoelectron Spectrometer (http://www.ms.ornl.gov/microscopy/XPS.shtml): This instrument is currently being used for identification of active catalyst species, analysis of polymer membranes for fuel cell applications, and corrosion and failure analysis
• PHI 680 Scanning Auger Nanoprobe (http://www.ms.ornl.gov/microscopy/PHI_680.shtml): This instrument is currently being used for, grain boundary characterization of metals and alloys, 3-D thin film characterization using elemental mapping and depth profiling, and corrosion and failure analysis
• JEOL JXA-8200 Electron Microprobe (http://www.ms.ornl.gov/microscopy/JEOL8200.shtml):
