Fluid Flow in Buckytube
PURPOSE:
Characterize the atomistic behavior of fluids and gases constrained to flow through nanometer sized cavities
APPROACH :
MD simulation
helium or argon flow in graphite tubes (buckytubes)
RESULTS:
flow rate depends on fluid density and tube diameter
He flows faster than Ar
fluid slows down more quickly in dynamic tubes
fluid flow supresses low-frequency modes in tubes
effective viscosity must include wall interactions
