PURPOSE:
Investigate the frictional properties and mechanical performance of a molecular bearing
APPROACH :
MD simulation two concentric graphite cylinders (shaft and sleeve)
rotational motion imparted to shaft
RESULTS:
frictional properties were size, temperature, and velocity dependent
some vibrational modes produced rotational beat patterns
stretching tension suppressed the beats
transverse loads produced beats in rotational speed
