Waiting for the Secretary are the stage hands. John Tomlinson (left) was part of a BTC team that won an R&D 100 award, announced 2 weeks after the Secretary's visit, for the drop-in residential heat pump water heater. Rick Murphy (right) designed the "Lab in a Box" attached to every drop-in heat pump water heater sent out for field study. John is standing in front of the prototype GAX heat pump, which had a heating efficiency 33% better than the best gas condensing furnace.
