Previously we reported liquid fermentation for b-glucosidase production with the strain of A. niger C-6 using shake flask culture in a basal culture medium and different lignocellulosic materials as the sole carbon source.

This presentation describes evaluation of the fermentation conditions: growth temperature, medium composition and pH for b-glucosidase production during six days’ growth using a simplified culture medium with C.S.L. and native sugar cane bagasse as the sole carbon source in a laboratory fermenter, working volume 1.0 litre, for the optimizing conditions.

The experimental data obtained indicate that productivity of b-glucosidase production by A. niger C-6 is a function of both temperature, pH and the cultivation medium. The maximum enzyme titer was obtained within 3 days. This results suggest that this strain is a potential microorganism for the scale up to a major level and further enzyme characterization.
