P oster Presentation Guidelines

Materials Provided
  • Poster mounting board; each presenter has two 31" wide X 47" tall panels (boards are folded at 90-degree angles, with the two 31" panels facing each other)
  • Poster number
  • Table
  • Marking pen, thumbtacks, push pins, note pads, scissors, etc.
The Author Must Provide
  • Illustrations (diagrams, photographs, figures, etc.) -- these should be sized and lettered to be legible from a distance of a few feet. They should be simple, colorful, well labeled, and neat.
  • Models -- these can be particularly effective. Notify the symposium chairman if an electrical hookup will be required.
Set-Up Instructions
  • Set up your poster session at the location assigned to you. You will be given your poster number and location on your arrival for registration. (You will also be able to check out the poster session breakdown on the Symposium web page to get your number shortly after your poster is accepted).
  • Do not post your entire paper; it is too difficult for even a small group to read the material.
  • Projection and audiovisual equipment will not be provided.
Presentations
  • Be at your location during your assigned times. - Sessions 2, 4, 6 - 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
    - Sessions 1, 3, 5, 7 - 8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
  • Materials must remain posted during the entire poster session.
  • The purpose of this session is to promote informal discussions. These discussions may begin with a question from an interested person, or you may initiate the discussion by pointing out a particular feature of your work/equipment and allowing questions and answers to evolve from that point. Keep your presentation conversational, rather than a lecture or reading a summary of your report.
Tear-Down Instructions
  • The author is responsible for the removal of his/her material from the Poster Session at the conclusion of the session.
