Feedstock Logistics

ORNL partners with the Idaho National Laboratory to characterize biofeedstock qualities and evaluate the current and future systems for moving biofeedstocks from the field to biorefineries. This includes the harvest of feedstocks, the storage of feedstocks, the transformation of raw feedstock ( e.g.pelletization or grinding), and the transport to the biorefinery. ORNL agricultural engineers are modeling the changes in biofeedstock qualities as they move along the logistic supply chain as well as the energy costs of that movement and the resources used.
