• New ORNL process brings nanoparticles into focus

  Scientists can study the biological impacts of engineered nanomaterials on cells within the body with greater resolution than ever because of a procedure developed by researchers at the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

  A Company, NellOne Therapeutics, has been formed through Battelle Ventures to research the potential for a new therapy that could help heart patients, according to Oak Ridge National Laboratory scientist Cymbeline Culiat.

Systems Biology and Biotechnology Initiative

The Systems Biology Initiative is exploiting the paradigm shift from a descriptive to a quantitative, predictive science with the goal of positioning ORNL to become a national leader in this burgeoning field. This will require building a multidisciplinary systems biology science research program and the core infrastructure necessary to support this program. This includes capabilities in gene expression, proteomics, mutagenesis, microbial growth, protein interactions, imaging and analytical technologies, and computing and bioinformatics.
