It is often the little things – input or compiler flags, unfamiliar file for- mats, cryptic output – that make users pause before embracing new scientific software. The big things – modeling and simulation tools that run at unprecedented physical scales and resolution – might never be appreciated by the decision-makers and analysts for whom they were made without taking care of those little things that mat- ter to the user experience.
