dxaccounts wierdness

On one of my systems, an Alpha Station 600au, dxaccounts seems to have
lost the ability to update user accounts.  The circumstances are:

I have a CDE session as myself from my office.
I click on the dxaccounts icon.
I am asked if I want to run as root and I answer to run as root.
I enter the root password.
The main dxaccounts window appears.
I click on a user name.
The window comes up, but the OK, APPLY, CANCEL, ... buttons are missing
from the bottom.

Dxaccounts seems to work as it should from the console.
I am using the lates version of Reflection X.

Can anybody shed some light on this.
