How to use man pages

Sorry to have to post this to everyone, but...

When I joined this list two weeks ago, there were some extremely
high-quality posts--and I thank everybody for the great summaries, and
all. But, the last few days, I've seen stuff that's in the man pages. 
Here's some general-purpose advice:

1. If you know what command you want, but need help with syntax:

man command

2. If you don't know what command you want, but have an idea of what you
want to do:

man -k keyword

The answer to the passwd question is definitely in there.  If your man
pages aren't installed, that should be your first order of business,
before posting here! Sorry! Thanks!
