Adding >255 pseudoterminals

Hello managers,

AS4100 & DU4.0D
My system is running out of available pty lines. (STREAMS).
So I need to add pseudoterminals. More than 255.
I set in /etc/sysconfigtab
pts:
    nptys = 1024
and  synchronized sysconfigdb.
The question is : Do I need also to add in /sys/conf/MYNAME the line:
pseudo-device rpty 1024 ?. Because this line is giving  the  error :
"Undefined pts_cdev" at kernel relinking.
Any help...info....will be greatly appreciated.
