hi everyone,

	I have few alpha 3000/400 and decstation 5000/240's. The decstation
is NIS & NFS server and one of the alpha machine is NFS server. while checking
nfsstat I found that getattr & lookup is almost about upto 25% each.

Will it help if I make the passwords available on the alpha machine (thus
eliminating the need to access NIS server) in improving the performance of
all the machines. 

Any other suggestions are also welcome. Most of our work involve huge I/O's.

Here are the detail on both machines.

Alpha (3000/400)	Decstation (5000/240)

NFS Server		NFS & NIS Server.

5 nfsiod		5 biod
96M RAM			64M RAM
400M swap		120M swap
12GB disk		6GB disk
