Printcap entry for LAT-mounted LA324 printer
Hi managers,
is there anyone around that has a working printcap entry for a DEC LA324
matrix printer mounted on a DECserver 300 running LAT?
I have managed to add the printer queue with lprsetup, free the LAT
terminal device in /etc/inittab with :off:, and mount the printer on the
port with latcp -A -ptty -Hserver -Rport.
Technically, the connection to the printer is working fine. But when I
printed a test (ascii) file, a header came out OK, but the contents of the
file was reported as:
"File contains non-printable data"
This makes me suspect that there is a problem with the input- or output
filters connected to the queue. la75of was what lprsetup gave me when I
chose "la324" during setup. Is this right? Can I just remove them?
Problems got even worse when I tried to get rid of the header (this is
intended to be a forms printer, and a header will just waste paper). I set
supress header with sh:, and then then printer printed "File contains
non-printable data" repeatedly until I removed the job. (I have seen this
last problem before, when I tried to use a LA70 as a console printer, but
then the contents of the file came out OK if I skipped the sh: command at
that time.)
This is my printcap entry:

Thanks for any help.
Respond direcly to me, and I'll summarize back to the list.
