Problems with second SCSI Controller Interface

Hello,

we try to activate a (second) dual-ported SCSI-Controller (DEC PMAZB-AA)
on our Alpha 3000/400 under OSF/1 version 2.0. 

We "see" it at console level as tc1 and with ">>> show config"
we "see" the attached devices (disks and tapes).

But when we boot the machine, we don't see a line like

bus tc1 at nexus0

or whatever is to be expected. And we don't see any device attached.
Btw, we also don't get any error-messages.

We think we have to update our kernel-configfile (/sys/conf/...), 
but nothing we tried succeded and we don't have appropriate documentation.
