Configuration problems DECnsr
Oh, tho wise ones!,
We have got an Alpha DEC 3000/600s AXP, with a
DEC rw524-ZA optical jukebox connected on the
second SCSI controller at channel B.
The SCSI address of the media changer is 3 and
the address of the optical diskdrive is 4.
We have the os OSF/1 2.0 installed. The problem
is that the jukebox isn't configured in the
configuration file. We have no software
documentation (yet). We looked at the man-pages
mc(7) and op(7) and found the config-info.
Part of the config:
config vmunix swap generic
bus tc0 at nexus?
callout after_c "../bin/mktcdata"
bus tcds0 at tc0 slot 6 vector tcdsintr
controller asc0 at tcds0 slot 0 vector ascintr
device disk rz2 at asc0 drive 16
device disk rz3 at asc0 drive 24
device disk rz4 at asc0 drive 32
controller asc1 at tcds0 slot 1 vector ascintr
device tape tz12 at asc1 drive 96
bus tcds1 at tc0 slot 0 vector tcdsintr
controller asc2 at tcds1 slot 0 vector ascintr
device disk rz16 at asc2 drive 128
device tape tz21 at asc2 drive 168
controller asc3 at tcds1 slot 1 vector ascintr
device mc27 at asc3 drive 216 <--
disk op28 at asc3 drive 224 <--
controller scc0 at tc0 slot 7 vector sccintr
controller bba0 at tc0 slot 7 vector bbaintr
controller ln0 at tc0 slot 7 vector lnintr
The lines with the arrow were inserted, following the man-pages.
After making a new kernel and rebooting with it, we tried the
command 'file /dev/mc27'. This results in a system panic and a
reboot. What did we forget to do? (options?)
(yes we also tried 'device disk' instead of 'disk' to no avail)
Please help us...
