Some questions about swap organization.
Hi,
We just got 2 DEC3000/800 with 256M of memory and 2 1G disks each,
running OSF2.0. I'm supposed to set them up, but before I would like
to ask some some advice about swap configuration.
1. What swap size should I use? I know that the general rule is to
use about 3 times the memory (in this case 768M), but is there a
problem in using less (say 512M)? Is there any advantage of using more
(1G)?
2. I'm thinking about distributing the swap among both disks, must
the swap size be the same on both disks?
3. Does the lazy and eager swap modes still apply to OSF2? Should I
use the lazy mode or is it too risky?
Any tips from anyone with some experience with the Alpha machines is
greatly appreciated.
