That is not the cause.

I double checked it, turning off the option to leave mail on server. The
same thing happens.

It looks like the following:

1. fetchmail fetches mail from the free account

2. fetchmail injects the mail into local queue

3. fetchmail deletes the mail from the free account

4. qmail delivers the message to the local user

5. qmail succeeds in delivery, but is somehow mistaken, that the delivery
has failed and retries the delivery over and over and over and over and
over...

When I turn off fetchmail - the mails still keep coming and coming. So
the only thing that could be fetchmail's fault is somehow injecting the
message so that it breaks down qmail.

What I will try is turn of bogofilter for a while and instead of using
maildrop to deliver, I will use qmail directly. Perhaps it's maildrop
that's causing this... But I use maildrop on other accounts with no such
problems...
