help: pop3d problem

Hi, 

I'm trying to set up pop3d, and I find that whenever I connect to it with my
eudora program, it always says "authorization failed". 

I installed checkpassword, but have no way of verifying that it actually works. 

What should I check to find out what's going wrong and fix it?
