Per host relaying, etc.
Hi,
Having seeing long discussions about Qmail on Usenet, I decided to have a
look. I have a few problems with Qmail and ask that someone please give me
some ideas as to solving them.
I have sendmail running here as a mail server/gateway/etc. I have been
trying to get Qmail to fulfill the same role, but have been unsuccessful.
I have the following setup:
Internet <-> Buffer Host <-> Relay/Gateway <-> Localnet (Novell)

Sendmail vs. Qmail Charon
With sendmail, I used a rewrite rule to forward mail for "Localnet" from
the Buffer Host to the Relay/Gateway host (which places it in the Novell
mail queues/dirs). Buffer Host is the highest MX for Localnet.
Under Qmail I tried to use "control/smtproutes" to do the same thing.
However, it seems control/smtproutes is only for domains and not hosts???
How do I get arround/through this??? Do I need to use some form of rewrite
rule???
Furthermore, under sendmail I can control the "load" on the Relay/Gateway
by defining a new mailer on the Buffer Host and flagging it as expensive.
How can I control the mail flow in a similar fashion using Qmail???
I would like to control how many simultations connections (1)
from Buffer Host to Relay/Gateway (In the other direction, there can be a
larger number of concurrent connections).
Last question for now... how do I "run the queue" under Qmail... I can't
seem to find the right command... ;-).
[FYI: the configuration above handles +/- 1000 emails/day, which totals
about 11MB/day.]
Thankyou for any insight.
Regards,
Hans.
