Q: rdump from DECstn 5k to Alpha
I am sorry to cross-mail this to both decstation-managers and
alpha-osf-managers, but this problem applies to both and I
could use some help:
I am trying to run "rdump" from a DECstation 5000 (Ultrix, 4.x)
to dump a filesystem onto a DEC 3000 model 400 Alpha tape drive.
>From the 5000, I issue the following command:
dec-5000% rdump 0uf my-alpha:/dev/rmt0h /my-ultrix-files
I get a "permission denied" error. I have read all man pages
concerning "dump", and both machines' /etc/exports files check
out OK (root of one has perm's on the other), AND I linked the
/usr/sbin/rmt command to /etc/rmt on the Alpha per the man
page.
In the man page, reference was made to a ".rhost" file; I know
of a ".rhosts" file, but no ".rhost" file, and contextually,
the ".rhosts" file doesn't seem to apply.
Can anyone help me? Thank you very much,
