The Lockheed Martin WLKN4MS team will march into action on April 18 to help raise money for multiple sclerosis, or MS, research. Sponsored by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the five-mile Walk-a-Thon is an annual event. This year's WLKN4MS team route will be in Oak Ridge.

Last year's Lockheed Martin­supported team was the largest in the event and also raised the most money.

"MS is a chronic neurological disease characterized by its unpredictability," says team captain Judy Mynatt, who was diagnosed with MS in 1990. "People with MS learn to expect the unexpected. MS randomly attacks the central nervous system, and its progression and length and severity of attacks are all unknowns.

"Having MS is like learning a new game, except every time you think you have figured out how to play, someone changes the rules," she says.

Mynatt urges employees, their families and friends either to walk, pledge or help with the walk logistics.
