| Secretary visits Secretary of Energy Bill Richardson “saved the best for last” as he made Oak Ridge the final destination of his visits to all the DOE facilities. His swing through East Tennessee included tours of Y-12 and ORNL and a meeting with employees, where he praised Oak Ridge workers for their part in ending the Cold War and the community for its support of DOE. Accompanying Richardson were Tennessee Senators Bill Frist and Fred Thompson and 3rd District Rep. Zach Wamp. Among researchers Richardson (left) and Thompson (center) met on the November 30 trip was the Metals and Ceramics Division’s Edgar Voelkl. Photo by Curtis Boles |
