UT-Battelle names top small business subcontractors
OAK RIDGE, Tenn., March 29, 2011 UT-Battelle, LLC, management and operating contractor for the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory, has announced its top small business subcontractors for 2011.
The awards highlight the accomplishments of small business subcontractors who excel in providing products and services to ORNL in a variety of areas, from information management to technical support. Advocates within ORNL nominated the businesses for their exemplary service during 2010.
Two members of Congress, Rep. Chuck Fleischmann (R-TN) and Rep. Heath Shuler (D-NC), attended the March 25 ceremony to help recognize the achievements of the small businesses.
Seven firms received small business subcontractor awards.
Small Business of the Year: Scott Laboratory Solutions, Inc., Knoxville, which has total sales to UT-Battelle of $4 million. The company specializes in laboratory casework and fume hoods building a reputation for quick completion of tasks during very complex construction projects.
Small Disadvantaged Business of the Year: StaffMe.net, LLC, Knoxville, total sales to UT-Battelle of $7.3 million. StaffMe.net provides call center service support for ORNL's Center for Infrastructure Security Analysis.
Women-Owned Small Business of the Year: Roltek, Inc., Clinton, with $180,000 in sales to UT-Battelle. Roltek single-handedly answered more than 3,000 e-mails sent to the DOE/EPA Fuel Economy website during the "Cash for Clunkers" program.
HUBZone Small Business of the Year: Haselwood Services and Manufacturing, Inc., Coalfield, total annual sales to UT-Battelle of $4.3 million. Haselwood is the time and management contractor for the technical component installation at the Spallation Neutron Source at ORNL.
Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business of the Year: Ingenium Professional Services, Inc., total sales to UT-Battelle of $428,000. Ingenium provides engineering, environmental and computational sciences technical support to environmental management projects.
Veteran-Owned Small Business of the Year award: L.B. Services, Oliver Springs, with $40,000 in total sales to UT-Battelle for video production services.
AVID Just-In-Time Small Business of the Year: A&W Office Supply, Knoxville, total sales to UT-Battelle of $1.8 million. A&W has achieved an on-time delivery rate above 97 percent.
UT-Battelle manages ORNL for the Department of Energy's Office of Science.
