Audio Spot: Army general speaks about appreciation for freedom

 Audio Clip
OAK RIDGE, Tenn., Nov. 11, 2008 — U.S. Army Brig, Gen. Gina Farrisee told a Veterans Day audience at the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory that Veterans working in business organizations strengthen those establishments.

"I think it brings the appreciation of the military, understanding what other Americans do so that we - the rest of the American population - can continue to have the freedoms we do," Farrisee said. "They have served - they have served selflessly and endured many hardships to allow this. I think that is great to bring that to an organization."

Farrisee added Veterans Day is one of reflection for her.

"I think that sometimes Americans take for granted the freedom that we have," Farisse said. "This is the perfect day to recognize all the Veterans who have selflessly served and who gave the ultimate sacrifice to allow us to have those freedoms."

ORNL is managed by UT-Battelle for the Department of Energy.
