Oak Ridge High School student contributes to ORNL alternative energy research

OAK RIDGE, Tenn., Sep. 11, 2008 — Oak Ridge High School student Nadya Ally interned at ORNL this summer as a participant in the Science, Engineering, Communications and Mathematics Enrichment (SECME) High School Program.

Under the mentoring of Craig Brandt of the ORNL Biosciences Division, Ally helped document and analyze data on switchgrass, a warm-season perennial grass, to learn more about its potential as a biofuel feedstock.
