Audio Spot: UT-Battelle names Second Harvest Corporate Donor of the Year

OAK RIDGE, Tenn., Jan. 22, 2007 — Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee has awarded UT-Battelle its Corporate Donor of the Year Award.

Second Harvest Executive Director Elaine Machilea says UT-Battelle has been a strong supporter of Second Harvest's many efforts, including a $50,000 contribution to help provide food and personal care items to victims of Hurricane Katrina.

"We have a lot of volunteers who come in and there are all kinds of food drives that this facility does for us," says Machilea. "We've had a lot of support for Second Harvest Food Bank from this entity."

Second Harvest helps feed more than 104,000 people through 350 agency/food partners in 18 East Tennessee counties.

ORNL is managed by UT-Battelle for the Department of Energy.
