OAK RIDGE, Tenn., Oct. 27, 2005 — Using hydrogen fuel cells to power a new development near downtown Atlanta is planned with help from the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Oak Ridge's Tim Armstrong says the laboratory will assist with providing energy needs.

"Oak Ridge is supplying expertise not only in the area of fuel cells, but in the areas of our buildings technologies programs as to whether we want to combine power and heat applications and take this to a higher level of efficiency," Armstrong says.

Oak Ridge energy efficiency expertise will be available throughout the construction phase and beyond.

"We anticipate Oak Ridge will play a role through the entire development of the site," Armstrong says.

ORNL is managed by UT-Battelle for the Department of Energy.
