Ex-ORNL director earns DOE's Gold Award

OAK RIDGE, Tenn., Oct. 25, 2004 — Former Oak Ridge National Laboratory Director Bill Madia received a Gold Award Oct. 25 from Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham during a ceremony in Washington.

Madia, who served as ORNL's director from 2000-2003, joined seven other current and former directors of DOE national laboratories. The award is DOE's highest honorary award.
