Melton Hill Trash Pickup
On April 5, 2003, Team UT-Battelle volunteers enjoyed a beautiful day, and for the second year participated in the River Rescue, picking up a wide variety of trash along the shoreline of Melton Hill Lake. This annual event is done in cooperation with many other volunteer groups and TVA, to beautify the lake shores prior to the summer boating season. Volunteers ate picnic lunches, enjoyed the weather and exercise, and had a good time while cleaning up a large area of shoreline near the Lab.
In 2004, an enthusiastic group of 13 volunteers attacked a new accumulaton of trash. They gathered two huge piles of trash—including two abandoned fishing boats! This project is expected to continue on an annual basis. | |||
