March of Dimes

Volunteers annually collect contributions for the March of Dimes and participate in a large group walk at the Oak Ridge Marina and Melton Hill Greenway, along with other teams. Walks are usually held during the month of May. Funds raised are used to support programs that assist babies born prematurely or with birth defects.
In 2004, over 20 volunteers combined to raise over $1000 and represent Team UT-Battelle in the May 1 "Walk America." sponsored by the March of Dimes of Anderson County. A number of children of all ages accompanied their parents.
